Overview:
To ensure that students are learning while having a fun time, our group decided to do some fun activities for the class. These activities were both rather entreating and fun. They will be explained and demonstrated in great detail in this section. The first activity we did was the re-write of the song "Born to Be Wild", by Steppenwolf. We changed the actual lyrics, so they were related to and about the ancient greeks! If you click on the page entitled "song parody" you can see the lyrics, and a live demonstration! The second activity we did was a proper marriage ceremony, which really spiced things up in the class! I will go into broader detail and say, that there was a rather large amount of sexism. The boy would choose who he wanted to marry. He would then wrestler her. If he won the wrestling match, the couple would get married. If the opposite occurred than the couple would not get married. Luckily, for safety precautions we arm wrestled instead of doing actual wrestling. Go to the wedding ceremony page for more detail on this event and who married who!! These are to fun and educational activities that certainly helped us, and our class understand ancient Greece's culture even more!
